M7 functional features

Date:2024-11-08

M7 has added the function of automatic support for DX encoding, and the film speed can be set automatically or manually. The exposure compensation system can be adjusted within a range of ± 2 levels of aperture. DX encoding can be automatically selected according to the specified film speed of the film cassette, ranging from ISO25-ISO5000, and manually set to ISO6-ISO25000. In addition, the Leica M7 can achieve synchronized flashing of the second curtain when shooting dynamic objects, self illuminating objects, or other light sources, especially during long exposures and fill flashes, if equipped with models such as the Metz 54M23 flash.

Appearance design

The M7 has an all metal body, and the early batch of M7 bodies and top covers were made of the same alloy material as M6. After the paint surface was worn off, it did not reveal the shiny copper like the copper body, but instead revealed a silver white color. The real copper body is the later M7, with high-quality brass casting for the top cover and bottom plate, which is sturdy and durable, available only in black and silver colors.
